Pair of Classical Sheraton Period Paint Decorated Window Benches

Sold to benefit the Maine Maritime Museum, this pair of Sheraton Window Benches caught the eye of several online bidders. Remarkable survivals, these delicate, classically inspired caned benches retain their original paint, including floral crests. While both live and absentee bidders battled it out for the top spot, it was ultimately an Artfact Live! bidder that took home the prize with a winning bid of $14,000 –almost ten times the pre-auction price estimate of $1,200 to $1,500.
