Airfix Giveaway Launches Toy Collector’s Prize Draws Toy Collector has launched its new Prize Drawings with a giveaway of the new Airfix book The Boys’ Book of Airfix.
News-Antique.com - Aug 18,2009 - The site’s forum-based prize draws will feature toy, modeling and collecting-related items, including books, models, tools and supplies, all donated by manufacturers and publishers. Winners will be drawn from among the site’s rapidly-growing 2200+ membership of collectors and modelers.
Five copies of The Boys’ Book of Airfix, will be up for grabs in its first draw, which ends on September 30th, 2009.
Written by Airfix historian Arthur Ward and donated by Ebury Publishing, the book is a nostalgic look back at the popular British model-maker. It traces the history behind the models, from the first Airfix kit – a model tractor – up to today’s Doctor Who and Wallace and Gromit models, and tells the complete story of the Airfix saga, including the company’s dramatic 2006 rescue by noted model train manufacturer Hornby.
Arthur Ward started building kits in the 1960s and has collected early Airfix kits for 25 years. His other books include The Model World of Airfix (1984) and Airfix: Celebrating 50 Years of the Greatest Plastic Kits in the World (1999).
