News-Antique.com - Aug 17,2009 - Gray’s Auctioneers announces its 23rd Fine Art, Antiques and Decorations Auction to be held Saturday, September 19th at 1 pm at their showroom located at 10717 Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. This auction promises to be one of Gray’s most thrilling sales, with works offered by some of the worlds most sought after artists. Pieces of note include a remarkable bronze entitled “Le Tub” by Impressionist master, Edgar Degas (French 1834-1917). A foundry reject of the bronze currently held by the Musee d’Orsay, this stunning piece beautifully represents Degas’s rich textural sculpting style. Also available are two vibrantly colorful works by the father of Russian futurism, David Burliuk (Russian 1882-1967). In addition Gray’s is also offering pieces by Jean DuBuffet (French, 1901-1985), Nikolai Petrovich Bogdanov-Belsky (Russian, 1868-1945), and a remarkable watercolor attributed to John LaFarge (American, 1835-1910). Also available are a wide range of furniture and decorative items ranging from Louis XV style to Mid-Century Modern pieces.
