Day 1:
The top lot of the day, lot 55, is a 1781 Boston Schoolgirl Sampler by Betsey Bentley. This rare early American satin stitched silk on canvas sampler has an opening bid of $20,000. The sampler is especially notable for 12 year old Bentley’s fine craftsmanship and keen attention to detail as depicted in the floral border and intricate landscape scene.
Lot 70 is an 18th Century Tiger Maple Bookcase-Top-Secretary-Desk. The desk was refinished and repaired by the Hayloft, PA in the early 20th century and is of very good condition. Bidding for this lot begins at $5,500.
An 1837 oil on canvas Federalist Period Portrait of the Hopkins Family of Swanton, Vermont, Lot 75, with a minimum bid of $10,000 is offered with extensive genealogical notes.
Day 2:
The top lot of the day, lot 716, is a diamond, sapphire, and platinum lady’s ring in an Edwardian setting circa 1910-15. Bidding for the ring begins at $13,000.
Lot 575 is a watercolor and colored pencil self-portrait by Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975). The minimum bid for this lot is $10,000.
An Agra carpet circa 1910, lot 721, features a floral and vine pattern on an ivory background. The carpet has an opening bid of $800.
