Highlights of the sale include:
The top lot of the sale, Lot 32, is “The Gleaners, Hertfordshire” by Sir George Clausen, with an opening bid of $75,000. This painting comes from the personal collection of JD DeMatteo of Torrington, Connecticut.
Lot 214, Solaris, 2000, by Alan Magee is a stunning trompe l’oeil painting of shore rocks. Bidding begins at $65,000 on this lot.
A watercolor of “Wild Rose Hips” by Andrew Wyeth is offered in Lot 160. Depicting the fields at Broad Cove farm, this work, with provenance from the Knoedler Gallery in New York, begins bidding at $38,000.
Lot 35, Portrait of Miss Ridge, 1773, by Joshua Reynolds, with provenance from the Knoedler Gallery and the Aldrich estate, has an opening bid of $20,000.
Among the European offerings is Lot 18, “La baignade dans la cure,” by Maximilien Luce. Painted in 1908, the lot opens for bidding at $38,000.
