News-Antique.com - Jun 28,2009 - From a warehouse in rual Indiana comes some of the most interesting vintage nautical hardware you will find. Owner John Clifford have developed business contacts with serveral of the major ship breakers in the far east. When John goes on a buying trip, it takes special shipping contact to get his 30 tons of cargo back home to his US warehouse. When those loads reach the warehouse, it is like one giant Christmas. The first day the container reaches the warehouse, our goal is to get the boxes off loaded from the container and into one of the empty bays of the warehouse. Next comes the unpacking and inventory process. The worst part of this process is documenting the damaged product. You figure after the cargo has traveled half way around the world by ship, train, and truck, something did not make it in one piece.
Now it time to get on the phone and call our buyers who have been awaiting word that the fresh load is here. New photos are uplaoded to the web-site, new stock is shipped to our retail store in Ft. Myers, FL, and the show trailer is loaded up for the next road trip.
You can find John at wooden boat show from Key West to Rockland Maine.
Our inventory includes brass and copper ship lights, binnacles, telegraphs, porthole windows, cannons, compasses, nautical flags, achors, brass propellers, and lots of other nautical related items.
