News-Antique.com - Jun 28,2009 - Antique Roadshow visited the Raleigh North Carolina convention center on June 27th, 2009, and the the event was a huge success. During the day, segments were taped for three differenct episodes which are scheduled to air on PBS during 2010. While there was a huge variety of items brought into the show, the most valuable was a set of Chinese Jade. Appraisers valued a wide range of items, incuding furniture, rugs, jewelry, silver, art, jade, ceramics and pottery, and all types of antiques and collectibles.
Tickets were free to the public, and distributed to applicants through a lottery type of process. It is estimated and reported by WRAL that 15,000 people attended the Raleigh event, and that the number of ticket applicants represented the highest request ever received by Antiques Roadshow! (Please note that funding for this event is from private sources and from pubic television, so your donations to public television are always appreciated.) Limited photographs are available on the WRAL television website.
If you missed the show, watch for other appraisal fair events in the Raleigh area. Insurance, Estate and other appraisals are also offered by local art and antique Appraiser Vicky Nash Shaw, ISA AM, who can be reached at 919 475-6930.
