Garth’s Auctions Develops Fall Sale for Kennedy Family Photographer, the late Bob Davidoff Garth’s Auctions of Delaware, Ohio is proud to announce the November 2009 sale of over 200 Kennedy family photographs by the late Robert Davidoff.
News-Antique.com - May 29,2009 - Not many people can declare they held a job for nearly five decades, but the family of renowned Kennedy photographer, the late Robert Davidoff, can say with pride that Davidoff was the photographer for the Kennedy family in Palm Beach for almost 50 years. Davidoff’s family waited until four years after his death to release a book, "The Kennedy Family Album", in September 2008. Now, Babe Davidoff, widow of the photographer, has chosen, for the sale of the original photography used to create the book plus additional images not included in the publication and heretofore unseen by the general public, an auction house similarly dedicated to its own customers for over five decades. Garth’s Auctions of Delaware, Ohio is proud to announce that in the fall of 2009, it will present over 200 photographs which captured three generations of the Kennedy families at ease and at play while at the “Winter White House” during President John F. Kennedy’s administration through the eventual sale of the Palm Beach home.
A freelance photographer for United Press International, Davidoff first photographed then President-elect John F. Kennedy along side President Herbert Hoover and Ambassador Joseph Kennedy during a party for Hoover in Palm Beach. However, it wasn’t until Davidoff later met Rose Kennedy that he was invited by the matriarch to become a true family intimate capturing photos destined to be part of the family’s personal archives.
Garth’s will also feature other presidential material of note in this landmark sale to take place November 27 and 28, 2009. More details will follow in the coming months.
