Terry Kovel to be guest auctioneer for WVIZ/PBS Cleveland's 2009 televised auction April 23-26 Terry Kovel will be guest auctioneer for the 2009 WVIZ/PBS Cleveland on-air fundraising auction April 23-26. "Auction action" will stream live and be linked to Kovels.com.
News-Antique.com - Apr 20,2009 - Cleveland, Ohio – April 20, 2009 – Public television and antiques collectors can help each other in a new way this year. On April 23-26, WVIZ/PBS in Cleveland is adding to its online audience for the station’s annual on-air fundraising auction by linking the "auction action" to Kovels.com, the popular website for collectors.
Terry Kovel, a longtime supporter of WVIZ, Cleveland’s public television station, will not only be auctioning antiques and collectibles on the air, but the auction will also be streaming live online. To watch the auction live and to bid from any computer in the country, visit Kovels.com and link to the WVIZ website.
More than 4,000 items donated by listeners and businesses will be sold on air to the highest bidder. No reserves. Viewers are invited to call the station with bids or to bid online. The bidding phone number will be shown on the screen. So far, donations include a pair of round 1950s Baker Furniture end tables, a Satsuma bowl, a Meeks upholstered Victorian chair, a Jenny Lind bed, a French Provincial 1960s dining room set, piano shawls, Meissen figurines, an early pair of old Sheffield (silver on copper) candelabra, Barbie dolls in the box, a Lenci doll, Tootsietoy dollhouse furniture in the original box, sets of dishes, prints, paintings, silver, a large aquarium, comic books, baseball cards, and more. More items are arriving each day.
Terry Kovel will be auctioning antiques every evening, from Thursday, April 23, through Sunday, April 26. The auction starts at 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and at noon Saturday and Sunday. Watch it all or just the antiques, art, and collectibles segments. There are always bargains and great surprises. And it is more fun than a professional auction because it is noisier, slower and more raucous, disorganized, and informal.
Viewers can preview auction items or register to bid online now. Go to the WVIZ website, WVIZ.org, or call the auction office at 216-916-6154. Donations will be accepted until Thursday, April 23. When a donated item is auctioned, the donor's name will be read on the live TV auction.
Terry Kovel will discuss the content of this release or any other antiques and collectibles topics with accredited media and collectors groups. Photographs are available. Contact pr@Kovels.com
