IN DETAIL.....
The Necklace and Amulet is a complete ritual jewellery set that belonged to a Persian – Sarmatian Tribal Leader (King) that lived approximately two thousand years ago in the region of the Pontus Kingdom (the location where the Necklace and Amulet were discovered).
The Persian – Sarmatian Gold Necklace and Amulet is one of the most spectacular ancient jewelry artifacts in the world that represent a highly important Middle-Eastern and Muslim symbols of Islam – The Crescent Moon and The Star.
The set is considered to be one of the most vivid depictions of the celestial symbol in the form of ancient jewellery with no known analogs of its kind. Although now clearly accepted as the symbol of Islam the Crescent Moon and the Star is very ancient dating back as far as 10th century BC. Special attention must be paid to the Amulet’s decorations and more precisely the number of cornelian stones. The five cornelian stones are clear representations of the five points on the five-point star which is the most common star version of the Crescent and Star symbol.
The Gold Necklace by itself is also attributed to Pleiades Star Cluster – a well known celestial and mythological sight throughout antiquity.
About the Pleiades Star Cluster http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleiades_%28star_cluster%29
It was determined that this Necklace is the Persian mythological depiction of The Pleiades Star Cluster that was well known throughout antiquity. Persians called this group of stars Parveen / Parvin or Sorayya. The Pleiades is a cluster of seven sister stars that is located in the constellation of Taurus. Each out of seven Carnelian stones on the Necklace portrays one of seven stars of Pleiades. The shape of the Necklace also corresponds to the position of the sister stars in the sky.
Special attention must be paid to the images on this necklace, the two symbolic birds (presumed to be peacocks) and dotted triangles or pyramids. Their style and the way they are depicted show traces of Post-Sumerian and Egyptian culture (1500 – 100 B.C.) that was carried by Persian and Sarmatian tribes. It must be noted that the Moon Crescent and Star(s) were very popular within the Sumerian culture and appear numerously on various archaeological finds.
The Ritual aspect of these artifacts is attributed to the fact that both the Pleiades Sister Stars and Crescent Moon could only be viewed at night time. This fact designates the Necklace and Amulet for nocturnal rituals
