News-Antique.com - Mar 16,2009 - Featured in the auction is a nice group of photographs from a private collector in New England. These signed images are by important 20th century photographers including Bruce Davidson, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Eisensteadt, Elliot Erwitt, Ralph Gibson, Constantine Manos, Inge Morath and Art Shay. Also included in the collection is Andre Breton, Roi Soleil, a limited edition folio by Henri Cartier-Bresson featuring four silver gelatin prints.
Highlights from the decorative arts include a George III painted settee, an American Empire mahogany tester bedstead and armoire, a George III style giltwood overmantle mirror, 19th century, a pair of end tables by Laverne, Art Glass and Pottery including Daum Nancy, Tiffany and Van Briggle, numerous lots of English and Asian pewter, sterling silver including Gorham, Rugs and Carpets, Asian art, and many group lots.
Several interesting paintings on offer include a 17th century portrait of Sir Charles Halkett attributed to Sir John Medina, a charming 19th century portrait of a child with dog, prints by Goya, Icart, and much more.
A preview will take place at 2436 Waters Avenue on Thursday, March 12th and Friday, March 133h from 10-5. All other times are by appointment.
