On the fiftieth anniversary of the plane crash that took the life of Buddy Holly, his autograph is still coveted by collectors and he is remembered as a musical pioneer. A “Chirping Crickets” record album, signed in person by Buddy and the Crickets, will be sold at auction March 1, 2009 at Phil Weiss Auction Gallery in Oceanside NY.
The album’s owner consigned the item which includes his personal account of the experience in 1958 along with a photograph of the owner with Buddy Holly backstage at the concert.
Also included in the auction are 2 original Business Cards from early Buddy Holly musical groups including “Buddy and Bob” and “The Rhythm Playboys” received by the consignor from Buddy’s family members.
The auction will feature 50 years of rock n roll history, records and memorabilia including Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Who, The Grateful Dead, Ten Years After, 1960s through 1990s concert posters, handbills, programs and tickets including the Fillmore, Avalon and Grande Ballrooms, plus authentically autographed items, Rock Festivals and other interesting artifacts.
The auction will be at the Phil Weiss auction gallery at 1 Neil Court in Oceanside, Long Island, New York. Bidding is accepted in person in the audience, on the phone, on the internet through www.prwauctions.com, icollector.com and proxibid.com.
