Leila Dunbar departs Sotheby's to launch consulting/appraisal firm After serving nine years as Sotheby’s Senior Vice President and Director of the Collectibles Department (1999-2008), Leila "Lee" Dunbar has founded Leila Dunbar LLC.

For 12 years, Dunbar served as President of Dunbar’s Gallery in Milford, Mass., where she and her family operated a full time collectibles retail and auction business. The Dunbars held 18 mail/telephone auctions, selling antique toys, advertising, folk art, holiday automotive and motorcycle memorabilia.
From 1983-1987 Lee ran the family automotive salvage business (Dunbar’s Junkyard, specializing in GM used parts), bidding on auto wrecks at auction, computerizing the inventory system and dismantling sheet metal and interiors when necessary. She still owns her first car, a 1970 Cutlass S with a 455 motor, in pumpkin orange, now safely garaged for most of the year.
