News-Antique.com - Jan 13,2009 - As a collector of antique and vintage jewelry and collectables I am always searching for that one special and unique “find” that my customers will enjoy for many years to come, as did the previous owner. Recently, and most Serendipitously! On a bleak, cold and frosty winter’s day but just in time for Valentine’s Day, I was browsing through the contents of an Estate sale and came across this stunning Art Nouveau photo locket, encrusted with diamante pastes and beautifully etched on the face in typical Art Nouveau styling. As I gazed down at this beautiful little treasure from decades past, I opened the locket to find an original picture still inside. An elderly couple, dressed it would appear in clothes of the Victorian era - the original owner’s parents perhaps? A much loved brother and sister? Aunt and Uncle? I stopped to gaze wistfully and wondered about this particular couple whose lives were intertwined so lovingly for so many years. This Valentine’s Day, as we celebrate those we love and hold so dear to our hearts let us not forget that true love still exists all around us and can often be found in the most unexpected of places!
