News-Antique.com - Dec 02,2008 - The Charleston Antique Mall at 307 W. Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas has been a popular location for treasure hunters and collectors for more than 15 years. Set in downtown Vegas, the historic building which originally housed a 7-Up plant back in the 1950‘s, lends its’ past to the ambiance of this genuine antique mall.
So what’s new about the old place? For one thing the name was changed when the Red Rooster Antique Mall vacated the premises less than two years ago. The next major change came when the building was revamped with all new AC/heating units , a handicap restroom was added and the structures’ interior and exterior was given a fresh face.
Just last March, antique dealers Cal and Michele Tully took over the business. The enthusiastic pair of new owners are hands-on operators of the huge, 16,000 square foot mall. “We have worked very hard to update the day to day operations of the mall both technically and environmentally,” Michele Tully said. “We want this mall to be an inviting, hospitable place for our customers and our dealers too.”
One example of Tully’s efforts is the Country Store, an area in the mall where customers can shop as well as sit down at a comfortable table, enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee and have a snack. Small non-profit organizations and clubs are invited to use the area by special arrangement for meetings at no charge.. Several chapters of the Vegas Valley Red Hat Society have held gatherings in the mall’s new hospitality spot.
The best of the throwbacks to the old place is the cooperative mall concept. There are about 40 dealers and no salaried sales staff so customers are served by the dealers themselves, many who have spent years accumulating knowledge and establishing a satisfied customer base. The Charleston Mall dealers proudly say they are often referred to by visitors as “the friendliest dealers in town .”
Some other new additions to the mall’s offerings are a full-fledged vintage and resale clothing shop and a used-book shop stacked with hundreds of collectible books in a wide range of topics.
The spacious mall offers customers a sense of adventure and awe for no matter where one looks there is a reminder of times past be it Mom’s kitchen stuff or Grandpa’s pocket watch, or perhaps a Tiffany lamp, an Eames chair, or a Victorian settee.
Dealers offer just about every kind of collectible imaginable from jewelry to art, to toys, all types of memorabilia, vintage Hawaiian items, china, silver, glass and so much more. There’s also a wide selection of fine antique furniture and décor from the 1800’s through the 20th century The eclectic mix of vintage home furnishings and trendy collectibles include popular styles like Art Deco, Mid Century Modern. and L.A. Bohemian as well as primitives, country and shabby chic.
With its well established location, a reputation for quality merchandise, friendly dealers and competitive pricing it’s not surprising that many locals faithfully shop at
