Uncle Milton Industries is best known for its ant farms, but in the past 50+ years, Uncle Milton has become a great source for educational toys that take children into the world of the microscopic or into the reaches of outer space with telescopes.
Milton Levine and his brother-in-law Joe Cossman started their mail-order company with a small line of toys that included animal balloons, plastic shrunken heads for a car’s rear view mirror, potato shooting “Spud Guns” and dwarf tree kits.
The company had its start in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but in 1952 moved to the West Coast. That was where the brainstorm for the original Ant Farm began.
