I collect old coins. I remember it was a hobby of my grandparents when I was younger. They started sending my siblings and I coins at our birthdays and Christmases. Slowly my brothers and I began to take on the hobby ourselves. Now, after several years, I’ve started wondering: what are all my old coins worth?
I started some research, and found the following website: http://www.coinstudy.com/old-coin-value.html. Coin Value Study is a very informational website that lists all the various current going rates for old coins. It is set up so you can scroll through and look through all coin series according to dates and mints to find their specific current values.
The first coin I looked up was the Indian penny. This coin was made between 1859 and 1909. For mint condition coins made between 1859 and 1878, you can get upwards of $350 for them. I was shocked! I never knew they were worth that much.
The second coin I looked up was the Liberty nickel. This coin was made between 1883 and 1912. For mint condition coins made in 1885, you can get upwards of $1,404.00! This made me want to run out and buy one of those!
Depending on their condition, date, and rarity, old coins can be worth quite a bit of money. I did my research and found out what my collection is worth!
