Luxury Antiques Weeked at Linden Hall After the successful launch in February/March 2008, of the first of a series of Luxury Antiques Weekends, the 2nd Luxury Antiques Weekend returns to Linden Hall, nr Morpeth, Northumberland in March'09
News-Antique.com - Nov 07,2008 - “This event was breaking new ground in a number of respects, not
least because a fair of this quality has not been seen in the North East
for many years. There was a definite sense of occasion for both exhibitors and visitors, which is not something one can say of many of the more established fixtures” – Antiques Trade Gazette, 29 March 2008
Luxury Antiques Weekends concentrate on the upper end of the antiques market, offering fine art and antiques from the quirky to the splendid and stylish. The fair is set in the elegant surroundings of Linden Hall Hotel which provides a stunning setting for the beautiful works for sale. This is the ideal place to find decorative items for the house and to provide inspiration of how old and new can blend together as a background for modern living.
Around 24 exhibitors from all parts of the UK, each a specialist in their field, showcase their best pieces at the Luxury Antiques Weekend. Everything is vetted for quality and authenticity and all exhibitors are members of either BADA (The British Antique Dealers’ Association) or LAPADA, the UK’s largest association of professional art and antiques dealers. All disciplines of art and antiques can be found here including town and country furniture, paintings, silverware, jewellery, ceramics, clocks, carpets and much more.
Over 70% of the exhibitors have already contracted to return, including Angela Hone Watercolours bringing a wide variety of 19th and 20th century artists, Garret & Hurst Sculpture with wonderful 19th century French bronzes; Nicholas Shaw Antiques’ treasure trove of silver; dazzling antique and contemporary jewellery from Plaza; John Newton Antiques with English and continental porcelain.
Local dealers taking part again include TB & R Jordan from Stockton-on-Tees, specialists in British Impressionist artists who painted in the area such as the Staithes Group and the Cullercoats Colony; Graham Smith Antiques of Newcastle-upon-Tyne who has the largest antiques shop in the north-east of England. John Nicholson & Dunelm Fine Art, specialists in Northumbrian, Yorkshire and Scottish artists from the 19th and 20th century, as well as European oil and watercolour paintings are also returning, along with J Dickinson Maps & Prints of Derbyshire. Newcomers include Edinburgh based Anthony Woodd Gallery, Ged Selby Antique Glass from Yorkshire and silver specialist Jeffrey Neal from Hertfordshire.
The Calvert Trust, a UK charity that enables people with disabilities, together with their families and friends, to achieve their potential through outdoor adventure activities in the countryside, is the Luxury Antiques Weekend’s chosen charity.
The Macdonald Linden Hall has generously offered an overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast for two as one of the prizes in a ticket draw, the winners of which will be announced at the end of the weekend.
