Last night when we arrived at the home in Placerville, which is located at, 2691 Woodridge Court 95667, to look over the contents and photograph the sellable items we were shocked from the moment our feet hit the ground and our noses touched the air. The small dusky house smells of museum-aged treasures and linens in chests, clothes from vaudeville days to the hippie era packed away in too-full closets next to baskets of sewing, buttons and boxed up dish-sets.
The lighting is subtle; it took a minute for our eyes to adjust to the beautiful pictures and paintings, darkened corners with wonderful mission and barley furniture to mahogany and walnut blends. The books cover every shelf with small goodies and knick knacks stuck between them and plants fainting over sides of cabinets and glass shelving housing Victorian china hand-painted by widows long ago when time was plenty and art forms flourished.
There is a fabulous large hand-tinted early photograph to frame, jewelry in piles, neck ties, end of the day glass, Roseville, Japanese, Hawaiiana, English chintz, colored glass, 50s barware, wrought iron ornate and plain, fountain, birdbath, vintage Christmas and Easter, Hull, fiesta, porcelain, and lots of Buddhists accents.
For you time keeper lovers there are several wonderful example of early clocks from marble to wood faced and all in very aesthetically pleasing condition. The lighting although sparse, is offered by antique fixtures and floor lamps and will add so much to your own home or office when cleaned up and brought home with your various scores.
There is a vintage Hangtown Vigilante jacket along with several suede and leather varieties and so many Joan Crawford type 40’s dresses and designer labels from Lilly Ann to silk layered furs. We have an as is plaster art décor wall mount of a woman’s head and hands, a rare Portman portable sewing apparatus, vases and dish sets, and every household convenience imaginable.
The garage is full from an older vehicle that will go for a song to boxes and boxes of unearthed treasures that will need to wait till nearer the sale to be uncovered. The back yard is scattered with starving plants and some already deceased that would lend you their huge girthy pots and no longer needed dirt for your own project plant awaiting a new home in yours.
Come anytime Friday or Saturday from 7-6 to pick up the items you forgot to buy on the first round through. We look forward to either seeing you at this sale or at our Auburn sale, which takes place this same weekend as well, or for those of you who feel extremely motivated, we may see you at BOTH!
As for Auburn, the address is 112 Haswell Court Auburn CA 956603 and we’ll have the sale Friday and Saturday from 7-6 and half price from noon till 4:00 Saturday and free leftovers at 4:00.
