News-Antique.com - Oct 05,2008 - We're pleased to present a.o. very nice work by Emile Claus, Andreas Schelfhout, Edgard Wiethase, Arthur Navez to be sold without any price reserve by order of the Belgian Ministry of Finances. And the same goes for good quality jewelry and watches from the same source as well as from the curator.
I guess the landscape by the XIXth century Dutch romantic painter Andreas Schelfhout has the highest value (my conservative estimation is between € 10 and 15000) and it is a good picture indeed. As is the sunny winterlandscape by Emile Claus. But my favorite is the Sunday Breakfast Scene by Arthur Navez. A very good Belgian painter, working in the same period when James Ensor did this kind of intimate interiors. In my opinion this Navez outclasses most of these early Ensors.
As for jewelry: everything has of course been checked and weighed to give an accurate description and evaluation. This said, as there are no reserves, I bet you will find a lot of value for your money among them in all genres and in all price ranges.
Of course we are selling much more than just the paintings and some jewelry. Best thing to do is to check on the website every now and then, we add lots daily. The text is in French and Dutch, if this poses a problem, feel free to contact us for information or translation of certain descriptions.
