intertwined letters A and M, is called Auspice Maria, a monogram of Mary. Auspice Maria is Latin for "Under the protection of Mary" and is commonly found in Catholic religious art, on churches, and inscribed on jewelry. Under the monogram are crossed palms. The banner is lined with canvas cotton. Size: 80x120cm or 33" x 49". Condition: All over fraying of silk satin on front and back due to age and use. Humidity marks on satin back and front. Some of the embroidery lose which is typical of a 160 year old piece of silk. The overall look of this piece is quit lovely.
Dutch Court Chest Cabinet Cupboard c. 1820 - $2,350. Rare and fabulous hand-made, carved C.1820 antique cream Dutch court cupboard from Holland. Carvings of cherubs on one side and soldiers on the other at the top of the doors with maiden carving in the center surrounded by ornate pillars. Two storage compartments in each with ornate bronze hardware on both with lock and key. Two keys with Dutch motif fit both top and bottom doors. Recessed panels on sides. The bottom section houses six roomy drawers with hand pulls which were probably added at a later date many years ago, customized to the owners' needs as well as the four ball feet. Abundant storage space or for use as a bar or entertainment center. Extraordinary old locks on inside bottom doors. Probably repainted at some point during the lifetime as antique white finish with brown antiquing in wonderful condition. Countless uses and storage in today's home. Excellent condition.
