Antique Dealer Shakeout Coming According To Antique Dealers TV™ Report
“Antique dealers cannot ignore 6 million searches a month from the 85% percent of all antique buyers who are shopping for antiques and collectibles on the web"
News-Antique.com - Apr 06,2008 - There is about to be a major shake out in the antique business that will put many of the current antique dealers out of business, according to a report just released by Antique Dealers TV™. According to the report many antique dealers have been experiencing a downturn in business since the emergence of the real estate and foreclosure problems. Sixty percent of the dealers polled said they expected a further decline in business as the nation apparently enters a recession period.
Over the past several years, internet antique sales have eaten away at the sales of many antique dealers, some more effected more than others. This report reveals internet antique sales are expected to skyrocket each year, thereby putting more pressure on antique dealers around the world.
The report disclosed that nearly 85% of all of consumers looking for antiques and collectibles begin their search on the web. There are more than six million search engine searches each month looking for antiques and collectibles and the dealers that have them. It ‘s clear that the antique shopping district of today is the internet, and only those antique dealers with an internet presence will survive the shakeout, the report suggests.
Only 12% of the antique dealers polled had any internet marketing strategy other than an eBay account. When asked why they didn’t have an internet marketing strategy, 59% responded that they didn’t have enough internet knowledge, and 36% said they didn’t have the time to operate a shop and a web business at the same time.
