Proof Gold Glitters at Heritage's Phoenix ANA Signature Auction, Now Posted at HA.com The catalog for the Official Auction of the ANA's Phoenix National Money Show has been posted by Heritage Auction Galleries on their HA.com website.
The mintage of 1865 gold dollars was a minuscule 3,725 examples -- among the lowest of the entire Type Three series; this is tied for the finest certified.
The Philadelphia Mint only struck 35 proof quarter eagles in 1870, but in two batches: 25 were issued as part of gold proof sets on February 3, and the other 10 on June 1.
