Heritage-NYINC Signature Auction of Ancient & World Coins Nears $4.5 Million in New York City Event Heritage Auction Galleries presented one of their most successful Signature Auctions of ancient and world coins at the New York International Numismatic Convention, held in New York on Jan. 6-7.
Lot 52197: Russia, Nicholas I. 1839 Borodino Commemorative 1-1/2 Rouble, by H. Gube, Long Rays, Bit-892, AU details. Sharply struck with prooflike fields, this is one of the classic Russian numismatic rarities.
Lot 51717: Mexico, Felipe V. 1733MX-MF Pillar 4 Reales, KM94, MX/XM, MS63 NCG, prooflike surfaces. Very rare variety with the X in the mintmark punched over a partially obliterated "o" (i.e., Mo.); certainly among the finest known.
Lot 52077: Poland, Alexander I of Russia. 1829-FH gold 25 Zlotych, KM-C118, Friedberg 110, lustrous XF-AU. A rare and extremely popular type; the mintage for this date is listed as 66, the lowest by far for the type.
Lot 50262: Bolivia, Felipe IV. 1650P-O Royal cob 8 Reales, KM-R19b, Lazaro 111, choice XF. Fully struck on a beautiful round planchet, no trace of mounting and not counterstamped. One of the most desirable coins of Potosi, Royals of this debased silver type are extremely rare.
