News-Antique.com - Jan 11,2008 - APPRAISAL COURSE ASSOCIATES RECEIVES ENDORSEMENTS
(Frederick, MD - January 10, 2008) "We are very pleased with these two endorsements," said Appraisal Course Associates (ACA) partner and co-instructor Bill Novotny, ISA AM, CGA. Novotny was referring to the endorsement by Appraisers National Association (ANA) (www.ana-appraisers.org) of ACA's 6-day, on-site course entitled "Appraising Personal Property: A Core Course in Valuation Studies Featuring USPAP" and to the College of Appraisers' (CFA) (www.collegeforappraisers.com) adoption of the course text book, "Appraising Personal Property: Principles and Methodology" (Appraisers Press) by ACA partner and co-instructor David J. Maloney, Jr., AOA CM.
“The ANA has officially approved endorsing your great course, Appraising Personal Property", said Suki Higler, Chairperson of Appraisers National Association. "I know this will be a very positive relationship between us," she added. Headquartered in Laguna Hills, CA, the ANA is a not-for-profit association of appraisers, providing the public and the membership with a resource for communication, education, and service to ensure continued emphasis on the principles and ethics of personal property appraising. ANA joins the Association of Online Appraisers (AOA) (www.aoaonline.org) in approving the ACA course as satisfying its educational requirements in appraisal principles and theory for obtaining credentials as a personal property appraiser. "We welcome ANA's endorsement," said Novotny. "It is a recognition of the level of commitment and professionalism my partner, Dave Maloney, and I have put into developing the most complete, well-presented and modestly-priced educational opportunity for the professional personal property appraiser," he said.
In addition to the ANA, the College for Appraisers, headquartered in Cypress, CA, recently announced its endorsement and adoption for use with its own appraisal courses of Dave Maloney's new appraisal book, "Appraising Personal Property: Principles and Methodology."
"All those on our faculty who have had the opportunity to review Dave Maloney's "Appraising Personal Property: Principles and Methodology" agree that it is the best work of its kind and provides a strong, useful and thorough tool for the professional personal property appraiser. We have chosen to have this book become the standard text for our course, Appraisal Ethics and Research Methods," said Walter Miller, CEO of the College for Appraisers. CFA has been offering the highest quality education in antiques, collectibles, fine arts, textiles and vehicles, and in professional appraisal standards since 1980. "On behalf of all here at CFA I want to thank you for this much needed work," added Miller.
"I am excited about the CFA's adoption of my book as I feel it will enhance the quality of their educational offerings. But one should not appraise without having thorough knowledge of the type of property to be appraised," cautions Maloney. "Though our book and our related courses (www.AppraisalCouseAssociates.com) offer a thorough grounding in appraisal principles, methodology and USPAP, we do not teach product knowledge such as knowledge about furniture, silver or glass. The gaining of product knowledge is a lifelong-learning experience that can only be gained through extensive personal experience including participating in and observing the marketplace, reading relevant books and periodicals, and attending courses
