Become An Appraiser - 2009 Course Announced Appraisal Course Associates announces its June 2009 course offering for "Appraising Personal Property: A Core Course in Valuation Studies Featuring USPAP" as well as for USPAP Courses.
Appraising Personal Property: A Core Course in Valuation Studies Featuring USPAP
During the first four days (Part 1) of "Appraising Personal Property: A Core Course in Valuation Studies Featuring USPAP", Certified Appraiser and veteran appraisal course writer and instructor Dave Maloney, AOA CM teaches the principles and methodology of personal property appraising including terminology, valuation theory, governmental regulations, ethical and appraisal report writing standards, sample appraisal wording and much more including the day-to-day details of running an appraisal practice. Part 2 of the curriculum is taught on days 5 and 6 and includes the complete National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Course presented by Nationally Certified USPAP Instructor, Bill Novotny, ISA AM, CGA. Part 2 focuses on the requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance by appraisers as set forth in USPAP. The course material emphasizes the role of the appraiser and the impartiality associated with this role. This tested course will fulfill the 15-hour requirement as established by the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) of The Appraisal Foundation and will familiarize the student with the only nationally-recognized appraisal standard for appraisers. Note that new IRS Regulations require that appraisals done for non-cash charitable contribution purposes be completed in compliance with "generally accepted appraisal standards" - the example given being USPAP, and "Appraising Personal Property: A Core Course in Valuation Studies Featuring USPAP" was designed from the ground-up to be in accordance with USPAP! The entire course costs only $900 plus text books. Benefits of this course include:

This course is intended to fulfill the 15-hour requirements of all personal property appraisal societies for designation and for USPAP continuing education. (Note that real estate appraisers are required to take a separate USPAP update course taught from a real estate perspective.) For those already having taken the 2-day National USPAP Course, we also offer the 1-day, 7-hour USPAP Update Course at the same four locations. The 7-hour course material focuses on changes recently incorporated into the 2008-2009 edition of the USPAP.
