The definition of memorable is ‘worth being remembered or noted’ which is a key factor in determining the future value of an artists work. When I refer to an artists work as being memorable I am not referring to artworks that have displayed in the media so much that one can’t help but remember them (ie Hirst, Koons etc.). What I am referring to is those artist’s whose work extends beyond mere aesthetics and evokes thought, discussion, contemplation, reflection and an urge to re-visit and re-experience over and over again. Below is a list of ten artists that I think have been the most memorable of 2007:
Tim Hawkinson – For his amazing sculptural machines that are both engaging and challenging
