News-Antique.com - Nov 28,2007 - BOSTON – International Poster Gallery announces their 14th annual holiday poster show “Winter Wonderland”. An annual tradition, the show features a wide variety of vintage posters and smaller graphics, with unique gift ideas running the gamut of both price and personal taste. The show also benefits from a torrent of new acquisitions, with categories including travel, sports, skiing, and the arts. The exhibition runs now through January 18, 2008. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday noon to 6 pm. The Gallery is located at 205 Newbury Street in Boston. Call (617) 375-0076 or visit www.internationalposter.com
With a focus on gift giving, the pieces in the holiday show represent a diverse array of categories to accommodate even the most discerning recipient. Poster categories include travel, sports, skiing, the arts, culinary delights and more. An elegant and undocumented 1904 Ricordi opera poster for Madama Butterfly and Jean Cocteau’s spectacular 1911 Ballet Russes poster featuring Nijinski, underscore the cornucopia of new acquisitions offered by the Gallery.
International Poster Gallery also offers more than 1,000 small graphics, many of which are already framed. These smaller works are ideal for kitchens, hallways, powder rooms and bar areas where a unique and thematic touch of design is needed. This diverse category includes not only small posters, but also vintage labels from top-shelf spirits, postcards, menus and wine lists, 19th Century French cabaret programs and tickets, magazine advertisements and more. With many of these works available under $100, they can also accommodate most gift budgets.
In addition to gallery shows and special exhibitions, IPG’s award-winning website, www.internationalposter.com offers the largest, most comprehensive online collection of vintage advertising posters in the world. Originally launched in 1998, the site has undergone a recent renovation and now contains nearly 4,500 images accessible through a powerful search engine.
Editor’s Note: • Background, B&W Photos and Color Slides available.
• Support for feature development on poster collecting available.
