News-Antique.com - Nov 13,2007 - On November 15th & 16th we will be auctioning a 42 acre fully operational Fernery Farm (see www.tranzondriggers.com for real estate information) along with a lifetime of collecting.. To see all that has been put into this piece of property is nothing short of amazing. One plant at a time, one tree at a time, one barn at a time (7), and the home of their dreams. Please take a moment and check out this amazing sale. I will highlight below some of the items, but there is no way I could list the over 2,000 items. Wear good sneakers or boots, top off with a hat and bring a chair to find rest from time to time and be prepared to spend a couple of days. Because of the quantity of the items at this sale, we will be doing an order of sale, occasionally in double auction rings and selling some of the items live on line with proxybid.
Barbecue will be available on site. Please note we will be directing traffic as to parking and items must be paid for prior to loading them into your car.
THE ADVERTISING 100's of signs, most porcelain, many double faced and flange signs, from small tag size to door pushes, to 12 & 14' signs... some on stands... the guys have tried to mount a major portion of them in the biggest newest barn. Close to thirty years ago, Joey & Carol started on this piece of property with a single wide trailer and a small pole barn, worked day and night, reinvested earnings to build and create this wonderful piece of paradise that is also a continuous work in progress. The cut foliage business is one of constant replenishing resources. You cut and it grows... They have been creative in the types of fern, have made the name the MING KING well known in the industry. They explored, and created market for several varieties. One thing did not do was to ship. It is an avenue of revenue that they said could be expanded into. Currently they sell to the wholesale market and let them do the shipping. When they installed the walk in coolers it was to go into that direction. Another piece of great information is that the current foreman on staff is willing to go along with the sale of the property. Everytime I speak with Joey & Carol I learn more... The next piece is that if someone purchased the property but did not want to work the business, they could lease the different parts or sections of the fernery.
