News-Antique.com - Nov 12,2007 - DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Auction Galleries is pleased to announce that Nancy Strauss Halbreich, formerly of Sotheby's, has been named Senior Associate of Fine and Decorative Arts.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Halbreich received her B.A. in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin, and pursued her M.L.A., with Art History as her concentration, at Southern Methodist University.
The majority of Halbreich's years of experience in the auction industry were gained through her fifteen-year association with Sotheby's as a Regional Associate and International Representative. She also has a special interest in the Dallas-Ft. Worth cultural and educational community, currently serving as board member of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, SMU's John Tower Center for Political Studies, and the SMU Tate Lecture Series. Her dedication to service within the philanthropic community has also led her to chair major fundraising events such as TACA's 20th Anniversary Celebration, Dallas Museum of Art's Silver Supper, and the venerable Sweetheart Ball funding cardiovascular research. She has been married for 23 years to Jeremy L. Halbreich, Chairman, President, and CEO of American Consolidated Media.
"This new position with Heritage represents, for me, a wonderful opportunity to help the world's third-largest auctioneer become an established player on the Fine and Decorative Arts global stage," Halbreich said. "An opportunity like this, to work with a group of visionary entrepreneurs like the principals at Heritage, only comes once in a lifetime, and I'm excited to be a part of this exceptional company during this strong period of growth."
"We're pleased to welcome Nancy to Heritage," said James Halperin, the company's co-chairman. "Her years of leadership in the Dallas-Ft. Worth community as well as her strong background in the fine arts auction industry will no doubt bring many new opportunities to our Fine and Decorative Arts division. We're confident that Nancy is going to help take us to the next level of success, and we all look forward to working with her."
