News-Antique.com - Nov 12,2007 - Dallas, TX: Heritage Auction Galleries announced that their latest Marketplace auction, which closed October 25, was their most successful ever, with total auction sales of $262,433. The Marketplace auctions, held online at www.HA.com , offer material from such diverse areas as Fine and Decorative Arts, Vintage Comics, Entertainment Memorabilia, Vintage Sports Collectibles, and Political Memorabilia & Americana, in accordance with the firm's strategy of cross-promoting collectibles from one area to collectors in other categories.
A total of 1,542 lots sold, and there were 398 different winning bidders. The top lot was an Asian wall plaque that sold for $22,705, and the auction also featured such diverse items as the original art for a Krazy Kat Sunday comic strip ($7,767) and the 1778 report of an expedition into Indian territory ($3,107).
"Just a few months ago we first announced that a Marketplace sale had cracked the $100,000 mark, and now the Fine and Decorative Arts session alone was more than $100,000!" said Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin. "In the last few months, in addition to expanding the selection, we've since added live bidding through our proprietary HALive system, which has added even more excitement to the bidding process."
The current Heritage Marketplace auction will close on November 27-29, 2007. More information can be found at www.HA.com.
