News-Antique.com - Oct 27,2007 - Last night in our Beverly Hills saleroom, Christie's Los Angeles held its Fall 2007 California, Western and American Art auction, and in the process debuted Christie's LIVE on the West coast of the United States. The sale totaled $3.87 million, set three new world auction records in the top ten alone - and internet activity included bids in excess of $100,000, with 13% of the sale sold or directly underbid online.
The sale and its public view heralded the beginning of a busy two weeks for Christie's Los Angeles, with two exceptional wine auctions planned, and a five-day public exhibition of American Art highlights from the Rockefeller November 29 auction starting this coming Friday.

Peter Kloman, Specialist American Art department, Los Angeles: We are very pleased with this evening's auction, which generated significant interest from new and established collectors alike. We witnessed fervent bidding in the room and on the phones for California plein air, illustration, Modernist, and Western and Taos subject matter. We were particularly thrilled with the launch of Christie's LIVE in our Los Angeles saleroom, which strengthened and energized the sale with bids received online in excess of $100,000 and 13% of the sale sold or directly underbid through the internet. We now look forward to our next Los Angeles California, Western and American art auction on April 30th, 2008.
