News-Antique.com - Oct 26,2007 - KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. October 25, 2007 — AntiqueWeek is proud to announce the publishing of its 2000th issue on October 29, 2007. Published since 1968, AntiqueWeek has been the weekly source for antiques and collectibles news as well as auction reports and calendars for all of its readers.
AntiqueWeek was originally published as the Tri-State Trader in 1968 by Tom & Peg Mayhill in Knightstown, IN. The Tri-State Trader became AntiqueWeek in 1983. AntiqueWeek also added the Eastern Edition in 1986, the National Section and the AntiqueWest in 2001. AntiqueWeek moved to the information age and on to the internet in 1999 and evolved to introduce an online version of the newspaper in 2007.
“Milestones like this are a great point to reflect on the achievements of the past and relish the good times. However, it is an even better time to look ahead and wonder what great things are still to be accomplished, what story still needs to be told,” said Tony Gregory, AntiqueWeek’s Associate Publisher. He continued, “The antiques and collectibles industry is ever changing and AntiqueWeek will continue to be at the forefront to report the facts, bring the stories and offer the best marketplace for collectors, dealers, enthusiasts and auctioneers.
AntiqueWeek’s Managing Editor, Connie Swaim, said, “Two-thousand must be our lucky number. I was looking back through the early issues of the paper and the April 25, 1968 issue, said that more than 2,000 people had subscribed to the paper in the first three weeks it was up and running. The response was so overwhelming, a new mailing machine had to be ordered and for awhile, the paper was being addressed by hand.” Today, AntiqueWeek circulates over 40,000 copies weekly and is the most widely read weekly antiques and collectibles newspaper in the United States.
This number 2000 issue represents over 39 years that AntiqueWeek has been published. Many thanks are sent to the loyal readers and advertisers in AntiqueWeek, the publication exists because of them.
