Bidders around the world can see, hear and bid live at Quinn’s Auction Galleries
Falls Church, VA – Quinn’s Auction Galleries & Waverly Rare Books are offering their upcoming Fine Art & Antiques Auctions Nov. 7-10 to the world via streaming audio & video combined with live Internet bidding. The technology provided in partnership with LiveAuctioneers.com in New York & eBay Live Auctions will allow collectors and dealers to compete live against floor bidders, while seeing and hearing the auction in real time for the first time in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Since 2004, Quinn’s has offered auctions live on the Internet through LiveAuctioneers.com with increasing success. “It has taken some time for bidders to develop a comfort level and familiarity with online bidding” said David Quinn, founder of Quinn’s Auction Galleries. “We look forward to streaming audio and video to help bring more people comfortably into the auction community.”
Previously bidders could only see a picture of the item and a monotonous list of the bidding action.
With LiveAuctioneers.com’s new technology, bidders can see the auctioneers eyes and hear the cadence and call, which will sound something like this “I have four thousand five hundred dollars on the internet do I hear five thousand?... going once, going twice… SOLD to the Internet bidder for four thousand five hundred dollars.”
"Our technology brings the live-auction experience to an entirely new audience who may never before have stepped onto an auction floor, and this has resulted in a significant increase in bidder participation" said LiveAuctioneers.com CEO, Julian Ellison.
Quinn’s sale week encompasses three sessions included antique Toys & Dolls on Wednesday night November 7th, with Rare Maps & Autographs featuring maps from 16th – 20th centuries and a rare George Washington Presidential document from 1796 on Thursday November 8th. The Saturday November 10th auction features a collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles and other Asian Antiquities where international bidding is expected to be plentiful. Bidders are sure to tune in to see, hear and bid on items in the all the auctions first hand even tens of thousands of miles away.
Manhattan-based LiveAuctioneers.com is the premier destination for online participation in top-quality auctions worldwide, providing real-time Internet bidding capability, in association with eBay Live Auctions, to more than 625 auction houses and galleries around the globe.
