British politician, philanthropist and abolitionist, (1759-1833) he led the Parliamentary debate to end the slave trade. Cut from a larger page “Your faithful (?), W. Wilberforce, 1820 Apr 14.” Small, but hard to find.

Member of Congress from Massachusetts, (1809-1894) and later Senator, his political career ended early. He became active in philanthropy, notably sending $1500 to a school in South Carolina which later renamed itself in his honor, Winthrop University. On a small slip, “Robert C. Winthrop.”
