373 LEAGUE OF NATIONS [8] ($200-Up)
The League of Nations was an international organization created as a result of the Paris Peace Conference of 1919-20. Its mission was to prevent war, encourage disarmament, resolve disputes between nations, and promote international well-being. President Wilson was very much in favor of American participation, but his herculean efforts were not sufficient to achieve that, and the U. S. never joined. The lot consists of a typewritten list of the attendees at the Geneva meeting of 1920, and six large size album pages on which are written the Signatures of the participants, most under the name of their country in French. The first is the autograph of “Eric Drummond, Secretary-General” of the League, and another well-known name is “Dr. Edvard Benes, Czechoslovakia.”There are sixty different signatures; a special collection for the right person.
