News-Antique.com - Aug 03,2007 - HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Old Town Auctions has locked in Nov. 16-18 as the dates for its Fall sale, which will be held at the Next Dimensions Events Center in Hagerstown. The company’s co-owner Matt Protos said he expects the new venue to be well received by auctiongoers, since it is part of an upscale dining and catering facility. “Bidders will be comfortable and well accommodated,” he said, “with a nice selection of food available on site.”
Approximately 1,800 lots are expected to be offered in the auction, with toys, antique advertising and coin ops on days one and two, and a mixed selection on day three. Old Town welcomes phone and absentee bids but does not accept Internet live bids, preferring to conduct its events “the old-fashioned way.” To encourage camaraderie and as an added incentive for those who may travel long distances to attend the November sale, Protos said tailgate trading will be encouraged during times that the auction is not in progress.
Old Town’s May 11-12 auction exceeded expectations by a wide margin, grossing more than $500,000. Another excellent result is expected at the Fall auction, and consignments are currently being accepted.
