Heritage Texas Art Auction Posts Impressive Results! Heritage Auction Galleries’ latest auction of Early Texas art, held May 19 in Dallas, Texas, realized $1,318,338 for 519 lots
News-Antique.com - May 24,2007 - DALLAS, TX: Heritage Auction Galleries’ latest auction of Early Texas art, held May 19 in Dallas, Texas, realized $1,318,338 for 519 lots, although after-auction sales are still ongoing and are expected to push the total to even higher levels.
“Texas art is an area that has been growing in popularity for quite some time,” said Larry Boettigheimer, Director of Texas Art auctions for Heritage. “There’s a great deal of interest in works like these from some of the Lone Star State’s greatest artisan’s, and we’re proud to bring these exquisite works to the collecting public.”
“The results of this auction were particularly strong,” Boettigheimer said, “with many wonderful pieces selling far above our pre-auction estimate. Frank Reaugh’s Breezy Morning, for example, sold for $179,250 against a pre-auction estimate of $30,000 - $50,000, and H.W. Caylor’s Rush for Water, originally estimated at $25,000 - $30,000, brought $101,575 when all was said and done.”
“This is a fascinating field, and those who appreciate great art owe it to themselves to experience the works of the great Texas artists. As we prepare for our next auction, I’d invite everyone to visit our website at HA.com, where they can see enlargeable, full-color images of each lot, read our complete and informative catalog descriptions, and even place their bids online from the comfort and convenience of their home or office.”
