BOLTON, Mass. – February 28, 2007 – www.skinnerinc.com - Skinner, Inc., one of the nation’s leading auction houses for antiques and fine art will host a two-day Discovery auction on Thursday, March 15th and Friday, March 16th in its Bolton, Mass. gallery, conveniently located west of Boston off Route 495 on Route 117. The auction features over 1,200 lots including a wide selection of material culled from over 16 Skinner specialty departments and property from several New England estates.
Thursday Evening Session
Thursday’s session begins at 5 p.m. and features nearly 350 lots of estate jewelry, and 200 lots of 19th and 20th century sterling silver and silver plate including tableware, flatware, table articles and accessories. Jewelry highlights include estate gold jewelry, Georg Jensen silver jewelry, pocket watches, and vintage signed costume jewelry. Fine silver examples include an English silver-mounted tortoiseshell chamberstick, large plated serving trays, a five piece Gorham silver tea and coffee service with tray, an English repousse silver coffeepot, and flatware from Gorham and Reed & Barton.
Friday Session
Friday’s session begins at 10 a.m. and features over 700 lots of Discovery’s usual fare of 18th, 19th and 20th century fresh estate goods. Highlights include a group of Wallace Nutting and Irving & Casson/A.H. Davenport Colonial Revival furniture, Victorian and Empire furniture from two estates, a large assortment of country Americana including yellowware, stoneware, furnishings and accessories, plus assorted 19th and 20th century clocks and timepieces, a wide assortment of paintings and prints, a variety of fireplace equipment, mirrors of various styles and periods, a collection of art pottery including Roseville, and a good selection of oriental rugs and carpets.
