MARCH MADNESS CELEBRATED WITH THE OPENING OF THE PIER ANTIQUES SHOW Stella Show Management gives the design world a new "Rite of Spring" with the arrival of the Pier Antiques Show, March 17-18, 2007, on Pier 94. Over 500 dealers with a global mix of antiques and art.
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Stella Show Management has declared March as Design Month, NYC, culminating in their celebrated Spring Pier Antiques Show. This is the show to watch, offering showgoers an opportunity to be just ahead of the style, decorating and collecting curves. The Pier Show is a big draw, with its own special mixture of lively shopping, celebrity designer hobknobbing --regulars include Marc Jacobs and Betsey Johnson -- and high energy.
Back by popular demand is the show's Fashion Alley -- a special section devoted to men's and women's vintage fashion. Here you will find the merchanidse that inspires today's "must-have" looks. This March check out flirty sundresses from the 40s-50s, designer handbags and mens ties from the 50's, along with a wonderful selection of costume jewelry found nowhere else.
Featured show trends include the resurgence of twentieth century industrial design--those wonderful, moderately-priced finds from defunct factories, warehouses, rectories, public buildings and retail stores that have been reconditioned and turned into disctinctive, stunning furnishings and sculpture.
The show highlights the ever growing interest in sports antiques with boxing, Jai Alai and curling --now an Olympic event -- the new hot categories. And with Spring in the wings, the show offers great buys on gardening antiques --everything from garden benches to pruning tools, gardening sheers and even asparagus cutters.
With so much to see, purchse and enjoy, it's no wonder that the lines form early. Show hours are 9-6pm Saturday; 10-5pm Sunday. Admission $15 (children under 16 free with an adult. Info call: 212/155-0020. For press passes call: Leigh Infield Associates, 212/691-7297
