News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - I was a little girl after WW2 and many of my friends had these wonderful fancy little dolls sitting on their dressers. These dolls were not made to be played with. They were for collecting and decorating. Unlike my dolls that had been dragged through the mud, soaked in the tub and received very un-professional haircuts. These little angels stayed neat and clean on display to be admired. I wanted one so bad. But we could not afford toys that we couldn’t play with.
I soon grew too old for dolls? Then in 1995 my husband bought home a box. I opened it and had an instant flashback. There were those beautiful dolls with no eyebrows I remembered so well from my youth.
I had to find out about them. I researched and found they are called Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls, made by Nancy Ann Abbott 1936-1960’s. The older dolls were made of bisque, later dolls were plastic. In my second childhood I became an obsessed collector of these little gems.
