Collectica’s community, recently launched by a team of entrepreneurs from the University of Chicago, offers its members free collection software and the ability to upload photos of their collections. “Collectica’s goal is to create a global collectors’ community,” said Collectica president Michael Dworecki, “our free software and easy-to-use collection management tools will make it simple for collectors to share information and post photos of the objects they are most passionate about.” In addition to collection management software, Collectica.com also offers social networking tools such as clubs, blogs, forums, and news and event information to allow collectors to come together and discuss topics of interest. The club feature is unique in that it offers the traditional collector clubs exciting new opportunities to enhance club activities and increase membership participation.
