Estimated to bring $20,000 to $25,000 is a stunning Tiffany Studios belted “Turtle-Back” bronze lamp. The shade is marked “Tiffany Studios New York 1484-9” and the base is marked “Tiffany Studios New York 364.” The lamp measures 25 inches high and 20 inches in diameter.
While the 20th Century Modern portion of this auction will headline the sale, John Moran will also bring to the block numerous lots of the exceptional antique furniture and fine art for which Moran is known internationally.
Among the art offerings will be a framed oil on oak panel attributed to old master Bartholomeus Breenbergh (Netherlands 1599-1659). Entitled “Figures Amidst Ruins” this painting bears his monogram “B.B.” and is registered at the Rijksbureau voor Historische Documentatie. This painting is estimated at $30,000 to $40,000.
“Flower Vendor & Child French,” an oil by Victor Gilbert (French 1847 – 1933), is estimated to sell for $30,000 to $40,000 and “Paris Winter Street Scene” by E. Galien Laloue (French 1854 – 1941) is estimated to bring $15,000 to $25,000.
Among the antique furniture highlights will be an early 20th century mahogany cylinder bureau. The roll top is decorated with a beautiful scene of “The Infant Academy” after Sir Joshua Reynolds. This piece is estimated to sell for $3,000 to $5,000.
A fabulous selection of estate jewelry, 45 lots in total, will all be offered without reserve. Among these lots is a 23K Tiffany necklace and 18K bracelets, and an 18K mesh purse (estimate $3,500 to $4,500).
John Moran Auctioneers’ November Fine Antique Sale will be held on November 21st at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena (CA). The auction begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. and previewing begins at 1p.m. All of the lots in the Fine Antiques Sale are catalogued and available for bidding from the floor, phone, absentee and via the Internet (eBay Live auctions/Live Auctioneers). Bidding on lots in the Discovery Sale is available from the floor only and the Discovery Sale is not catalogued. The Discovery sale will feature art by several listed artists, American and European silver, antique furniture including two 19th century English tea caddies and a pair of Spanish Baroque style walnut armchairs. There will also be a fine selection of art pottery and porcelains from makers such as KPM, Dresden and Royal Copenhagen.
