News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - WEST PALM BEACH, FL – October 16, 2006 – After a four month summer break, the West Palm Beach Antique & Collectibles Show is returning to the South Florida Fairgrounds on November 3-5, 2006. The show is the largest event of its kind in South Florida, featuring over 250 exhibitors and thousands of hard-to-find antiques and collectibles. The November show is expected to be an unprecedented success since exhibitors and visitors alike have been eagerly anticipating its return.
Formerly known as the Piccadily Antique and Collectibles Show, the event had been running as a monthly event for almost 20 years in Palm Beach County. The above normal hurricane activity over the last few years led to a decision by show organizer, dmg world media, to cancel summer show dates. Since the South Florida Fairgrounds becomes the main staging point for relief efforts for all of South Florida, hurricanes led to the cancellation of three shows in two years. It is expected that the cancellation of the summer shows will lead to a stronger show season in November through June.
Sonny Kimball, of Absolute Antiques in Juno Beach, FL is one of the many exhibitors who will be offering their wares at the November show. Featuring a broad range of authentic items that date from as far back as the 1600’s, Kimball began his personal treasure hunt by learning how to identify the marks signifying antique gold. His passion for collecting expanded into furniture, artwork, silver, and now includes virtually anything that holds the mystique of the past. Kimball predicts the cancellation of the summer shows could eventually lead to November being the best show of the season.
“At first I thought it [cancelling the summer shows] was a bad idea,” says Kimball, “but not having shows for four months has had a psychological effect. It seems like everyone has been holding back their best items just for this show. Kimball continues, “I think eventually the November show could even dwarf the big show in February.”
The West Palm Beach Antique and Collectibles show is presented by dmg world media and is one of the biggest and best antique shows in Florida. It attracts hundreds of antique and collectible exhibitors who feature items including antique furniture, china, silver, glassware, jewelry, linens, fine art, kitchenalia, toys and dolls, decorative accessories, fine collectibles, and much more.
