SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA CELEBRATES THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ANTIQUES ROADSHOW AT CLARS AUCTION GALLERY IN OAKLAND, CA
Oakland, CA – The Antiques Roadshow, the program that sent America searching their attics and basements for hidden treasures and made the terms “antiques and collectibles” household words, is completing its 10th exciting season on PBS. Throughout 2006, special celebrations have been held in cities across the country to honor this three-time Emmy nominated series and most-watched of all PBS Shows. On Thursday, November 2, 2006, KQED, San Francisco’s PBS affiliate, will host its 10th anniversary celebration of the Antiques Roadshow at Clars Auction Gallery in Oakland. This special invitation only event is being hosted by KQED Public Broadcasting, Clars Auction Gallery and The Mechanics Bank. Clars Auction Gallery proudly underwrites local presentations of The Antiques Roadshow. Guests to this event will include PBS Leadership Circle members, the Mechanics Bank Wealth Management clients and guests of Clars Auction Gallery.
In true Antiques Roadshow style, guests to this event are invited to bring one or two items for appraisal by one of Clar’s specialists. The event will be held inside the main gallery at Clars where guests will get a sneak peak at the amazing lots which will be offered that weekend at Clars Spectacular November Antiques and Estate Sale (Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th). Guests to this event will be able to peruse the historic collection of early American ephemera from the Breese Family, one of America’s most important military families spanning the Revolitionary War through their service during the Civil War. Equally dazzling to the eye will be a beautiful collection of important and historic San Francisco silver. Fabulous European furniture from the Collection of Cor de Chasse will be available for preview and fine art coming up at the auction will adorn the walls highlighted by “Day of Santos” by Argentinian artist Jorge de la Vega (1930 – 1971). Rounding out the evening will be wine and light refreshments.
