News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. September 21, 2006 — AntiqueWeek announces its partnership with the-saleroom.com, a catalog and live online bidding website geared toward antiques and collectibles. The Antiques Trade Gazette, U.K. sister publication to AntiqueWeek, launched the-saleroom.com as an antique and collectibles catalog site. The first online auction featuring live bidding was held in March. Currently, the-saleroom.com runs approximately 20 to 30 live online auctions per month. In partnering with the-saleroom.com, AntiqueWeek will bring U.S. offerings to the site. Currently, the site showcases 10 catalogs from prominent U.S. auction houses and will host its first two live bidding events on Sept. 29-30.
The first sale will be held by Briggs Auction Inc. of Boothwyn, Pa., on Sept. 29 and will offer a unique selection of over 150 lots of art, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. EDT.
The second sale, scheduled for Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. EDT, is led by John Coker, Ltd. of New Market, Tenn. Offerings will include a 19th century marble statue of Madame Recamier, possibly by Joseph Chinard; a Qing Dynasty presentation ivory tusk; Civil War guns and swords; an 1862 J. A. Poindexter Civil War recruitment billet; Roman-era glass and clay lamps, among many other items in more than 300 lots.
AntiqueWeek entered this partnership to introduce the-saleroom.com to its readership and the antiques industry on a large scale. With the largest readership and online presence in the U.S. antiques industry, along with the combined efforts of the Antiques Trade Gazette in the U.K., AntiqueWeek and antiqueweek.com bring the power of the antiques and collectibles buyers to the-saleroom.com. Prospective buyers can participate in sales by going directly to http://www.the-saleroom.com or linking from http://www.antiqueweek.com. New buyers then register with the-saleroom.com to receive a bidder number and register for the individual auctions in which they plan to participate. Once approved by the auctioneer, he or she would then return at the time of the sale, or leave absentee bids prior to the start of the sale. For the bidder, placing a bid implies a contract of sale should their bid win.
In addition to live bidding at the-saleroom.com, registrants can sign up to receive email Auction Alerts to stay informed about upcoming auctions including specific items they are searching for. These are alerts are customizable by the user. A Prices Realized section boasts over 1 million items sold at auction and the prices they have fetched. To make finding special items easier, all catalogs on the-saleroom.com are keyword searchable to find the items the buyer is looking for fast.
For auctioneers, the-saleroom.com offers an easy outlet to bring sales online in a trustworthy and technologically advanced way. Auctioneers looking for an online source for live bidding can enjoy unrestrictive contracts, the lowest per event fee and lowest buyer’s premium of all online live bidding sites.
