Oakland, CA – Over the past several years, September at Clars Auction Gallery has been the time when the auction house features the crème d’la crème of the many important estates that have consigned property to the gallery throughout the year. Being billed as the Spectacular September Auction, and for good reason, this four-day event will be held on September 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th at their gallery in north Oakland (CA).
The four-day Spectacular September Auction will kick off on Thursday evening, September 7th, with an invitation only special preview where guests can enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvers as they preview the exceptional art collections, furniture and objets d’art which will come on the block Saturday and Sunday. A very special guest speaker will take the podium at 7pm on Thursday evening to give an informative talk on his specialty – art. Internationally renowned art consultant, author and TV personality Alan Bamberger will speak on “How to Start an Art Collection and How To Refine the Collection You Already Have.” Bamberger is known for his book “The Art of Buying Art,” as well as for his syndicated column “Art Talk.” He also makes regular appearances on CNN’s Daywatch, “Making It” in Los Angeles, “Guardian Unlimited” in Great Britain, and “Marketplace” on NPR to name just a few. In addition, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, Clars staff of specialists will be on hand for a special “Appraisal Clinic” where guests to the event can bring in items such as art, jewelry, and decorative items for a fair market evaluation.
On Friday, September 8th, Clars Auction Gallery will be open from 1pm to 6pm for the public to preview the approximately 2,000 exceptional lots will be up for auction on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday and Sunday is when the real excitement will begin as the “stars” hit the stage for bidding. For the past several years, Clars has gained a solid reputation for featuring exceptional collections of fine art, both American and international. The September auction will prove to maintain that reputation as some of the best of the best will be up for sale.
The property of one of Northern California’s important estates, the estate of Edward Dixon Heise of San Francisco, second cousin of renowned California artist Maynard Dixon (1875 – 1946), has consigned eight fresh to the market works by the artist. Maynard Dixon, known for being one of the first “regionalist” painters, spent most of his life creating art in the arid landscapes of southern California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. These never before offered works by Dixon combined with their family provenance, should make the bidding very exciting. Among the
