News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - CHARLOTTE, N.C. – This June 1-4, the Charlotte Antique & Collectibles Show Sell-a-bration has an exciting line-up for the antique and collectibles enthusiast. Held at the Metrolina Expo, the show will include over 1,000 exhibitors, thousands of unique items, an informative seminar, and an expert on-hand to appraise items brought from home.
Mike Hansen will be giving a free presentation on Lusterware, a type of pottery known for its lustrous metallic iridescence. Believed to have been created by Persian potters around the 9th century, this unique finish is created by adding metallic oxides and an overglaze. Hansen’s seminar will focus on the Lusterware from three distinctive regions: Japan, Germany, and the country formerly called Czechlosavakia.
Richard Schlom will be available to appraise items brought from home. Schlom is most well known in the industry for his work as head of Furniture & Decorative Arts with C. G. Sloan & Company (Sloan's Auction Gallery, Miami, FL and Washington, DC), a major regional auction house. In addition to his work with Sloan’s, Schlom has gained experience through his own antique gallery, a lecture series on Oriental Rugs, and his present online Internet business.
Appraisals cost $25 and include a one-page written estimation on the value of your item. However, please note that certain items are not eligible for appraisal. Excluded items include weapons; coins & stamps; and items purchased during the show. For a detailed listing of objects eligible for appraisal, please visit:
