A Teco Vase-Turned-Lamp, a Chicago Modernist’s Painting Fetch Top Prices at Treadway-Toomey Auction What light through yonder Teco breaks? A handsome Teco vase designed by W.B. Mundie and fashioned into a striking lamp showcased a Prairie-style stained glass shade and sold for $28,800.
A duo of Pierre Chareau Nun table lamps fetched $4,800 (est. $3,000-$3,500). Fascinating to behold, the Nun lamps were a 1990s production of the original 1920s design, which was produced by MCDE. Each featured four triangular alabaster plates mounted in a metal frame around a conical mahogany base.
The auction featured Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau and Art Deco works in the first session, Fine Art and Paintings in the second, and 1950s and Modern in the third. All prices include the buyer’s premium of 20 percent.
