The sale is made up entirely of choice selections of fine antique advertising from the private museum collection of Sandra-Cartier Axtell of Deposit, NY. All items will be presented in a fully illustrated all color catalog. Collector areas represented in this sale include tobacco, medicine, food, soda, petroleum, veterinary, ammo, etc. and include early tins, display pieces, signs, posters, advertising smalls, etc.
Among the many interesting advertising tins and early packaging items are several of fine, early lithographed pre 1901era store tins by lithographers Gina including several fine cough drops and early coffees. Notable examples include a Tefler Milk Maid brand coffee pail and a Star brand Cough Drops tin featuring finely detailed images of early Pug dog.
Signs in the sale are comprised of examples in porcelain, tin, paper and cardboard and include exceptional examples for medicines, veterinary, food, tobacco, soda, etc. Noteworthy signs include a large store display for Frog in Your Throat Cough Drops, ”, early framed paper litho signs for Franco American Soups and Allen’s Root Beer Extract, a three way view sign for Spencerian Pens and a large porcelain two-sided flange sign in the shape of a milk can for the Harding Cream Co.
